Hello. I found your qestion while searching for stories about aftercare on the net. I just got my tonsils out, a little under 24 hours ago. I am 21, and it's not nearly as bad as I had originally thought it would be. It was extrememly uncomfortable when I woke up from the procedure. Since then I have stayed well hydrated, and only swallowing, coughing, or yawning hurts. I do have terrible breath right now (I was searching to see what other patients have done to help with that), but other than that, it's no worse than a bad case of strep or tonsilitis. Also, fyi, I discovered mixing juice with water minimized the residue you can get on your throat from the sugar of just juice, and really helped.
