I have been diagnosed with a herniated disc and a protruding disc at L4-5 and L5-S1. I also have loss of the normal Lordotic curve in C3and C4. I lost this involved in a car accident that was not my fault and was the fault of a comapny truck who got ticketed for passing a stop sign and hitting me. I am able to work but I am not able to go back to school for I cannot handle sitting in a chair much longer and can barely get through work. I got my Masters degree but it really is not any good unless I get my counselign license which I have been in too much pain and exhaustion to get. Before this I went to school for twelve years and now I stopped right before I met my goal. My lawyer wants to settle out of court for 50, 000 and I will have 10,000 left or less after I pay expenses and him. I am afraid to get surgery but am running out of time becaseu I refused the settlement and he has court posted for March 2004. Should i get surgery because he says I might not get any money for future surgery from the jury. 10,000 will not conver the surgery and my insurance will go up becasue I have to get PPO becaseu my primary doctor will not refer me to anything that has to do wtih the accident. I am so angry and I get depressed becaseu I was so close to my goals and which would have increased my income from 28,000 to 37,000 and up to 60,000 or more a year. I don't know what i should do. Is there anybody out there with same experience and have any advice? I am a diabetic and on and insulin pump and surgery is risky for me.
