Side effects of some medications (especially for blood pressure) can cause ringing in the ears. If he is on any medication, have him go speak with his pharmacist about possible side effects. Believe me, a pharmacist is alot more familiar with pharmalogical side effects than most doctors. Doctors know the human body/Pharmacists know drugs. Also, ask the pharmacist for a copy of the detailed insert that comes with the original bottle of medication that he receives from the manufacturer. This will break down the most common side effects and also the less common side effects and compare it against the side effects when taking a placebo (sugar pill). A good pharmacist will not mind giving you this. If he does, find another pharmacist. If any medication he is on can cause the tinitus, do NOT stop the medication unless under supervision of a doctor. Just take the information you gathered to a doctor and let the doctor look into changing his medication.
