What my boyfriend and my kids have is Protein C and S deficiency...they are 3 times at higher risk of clots, stroke and all that. My 7 y/old has a Dr. note that says..."She must not be placed into a position of immobility with bent knees. she must move every 30 min". it applies to all of them. it comes from MY BOYFRIENDS MOM SIDE...tHROMBOPHILIA, and on his dad side, most males died of strokes on their early 40's. He (my boyfriend and his sister) have had a few episodes of DVT's. They both had embolisms, not enough to kill them but enough to consider placing filters on the major veins from their lung to their heart..it was never done due to lack of health insurance. she was 24 when she got her first clot, and he was 26, now they are 29 and 34. they've been on coumadin since their first episode. thanks...hope this helps you understand a bit more.
