I can sympathize with you whole heartedly. I have been dealing with Polymyalgia Rheumatica for the past 5 years. For a good many years, the doctors played the cat and mouse game, from regular physician, to Neurologist, to Rheumatologist, back to Internist and, he was the one to diagnose me with the PM. He started me on 60 mg of prednisone daily and stayed there for a long time - I can't remember how long, then decreased to 50 mg for several weeks and then to 40 for several weeks, from there to 20, then sayed there for quite some time. Anyway, after decreasing in increments - the last being by 1 mg at a time, I finally got off the prednisone after over 2 years with the PM going into remission and felt better than I had in years. I am just now getting back to my usual weight and no longer look like the "goodyear blimp". I have just recently had a total knee replacement and with the stress involved, I am having some signs of returning PM, went to the doctor today for blood work to check my sed rate. Will hear from that in a few days; hopefully, it has not begun to return. The sad part about this immune disorder is that it can return like a ton of bricks in a moment's notice. I was in such pain that I did not even want to move my fingers unless I had to. I hope they started you on a high enough dosage in the beginning to really nip the disease in the bud for a while any way. Any relief is great when you have this stressful ailment.
