You have all my sympathies. If it's any consolation to you, my loving wife of over 60 years, suddenly--for some unfathomable reason--started to get tinnitus about two years ago. She says the noise takes the form of a flock of big birds consantly flapping their wings as they rush out of their caves. Her physician is at a loss as to the cause or how to minimize the racket, let alone shutting it off. So my wife is compelled to take a "fatalistic" attitude and learns how to live with the nagging disturbance by sublimation. But of course, compared with your tinnitus case, hers is nothing to seriously worry about.
