Buy a product called "EarPlanes." They are sold in the drug store for about $5.00 a pair. Discard them after one round trip (even if they look OK, the filters won't work properly anymore). They will help the pressure change in your ears happen at a much more gradual rate (they are worn on ascent, and on descent) They work extremely well, and have prevented many, many ear problems.
