Four months ago I was diagnosed with a complex cyst 4cm in size on my left ovary by means of a Sonogram. It has since grown to 5cm. I have taken the pill which I just finished a two month supply this month. I as well have had a ca-125 test that came back two point higher then the norm. (38 I believe). Yesterday I went and had a MRI done and although I not a doctor, I looked at the film and it appears that it has grown some. I am 28 years old and have never had children although I would one day like to have a family. I don't have a history of ovarian cancer and my periods are always normal, none ever missed. The cyst can cause me discomfort at times but nothing unbearable. It just a dull acheing pain. The doctor has suggested surgery to remove the cyst and she has stated that b/c of it's size that she may have to remove my ovary. I am really scared b/c I don't won't to lose my ovary. Along with taking the pill, I have been taking several different herbal pills and vitamins to possibly help reduce it. Is there anything else that I can try to do to help reduce it b/c I really don won't to lose my ovary? My biggest fear is that if she removes the ovary that later down the road something will happen to the right one and she will have to take that one as well before I have children. Right now she says the ovary is still working and I'm not in a lot of pain. Do I have to have the cyst removed? If I don't have the surgery can my right ovary be affected? Also if it's a solid cysts can it still rupture? If the pain stays like this, I don’t mind living with the cyst until I have children if that possible. I have been trying to research my problems but I haven't found a lot info that directly helps me. Any advice or suggestions is greatly appreciated b/c I don't want to lose my ovary. Thanks!
