Hi, I had a mastectomy on July 24,2002. I also wanted to have reconstruction at the same time, by using my own skin, Both my oncologists suggested I wait until after my Chemo and radiation treatments because it prolongs the starting of these treatments by about 2 months and maybe more if problems arise which could happen. They did not want to have me wait too long to start my Chemo. Also implants don't do too well if you have to have radiation. Alot of times they will get hard and have to be redone. I know someone who had that happen!
