I don'thave fibroids but I do have Endo, have for over 23 years. It is a similar disease, both can lead to Adenomyosis and in many cases women with Fibroids also have Endometriosis. Have you had a laperoscopy to see if you have, and treat, endometriosis? I would highly reccomend this!!! There are MANY suppoert groups on line for Fibroids and endo!!!! Usenet.com has quite a few as does the Delphi.com network. There are two procedures I would recommend if you are trying to get pregnant. One is a myomectomy. This would involve dialating your cervix, tieing off the fibroid, then delivering it like you would a baby. VERY simple!! The other procedure is Embolization. This one you do not have to be put to sleep for. An Interventional Radiologist does this. They go in through your Vena Cava, in your Groin, and cut off the blood supply to the fibroid. This would cause it to shrivel up and die. While having wires snaked thourh your veins may sound icky...you really don't feel it. I had it done for Pelvic Congestion. They numb the injection site really well!! There is one other treatment that I know they will offer you...This one I would NOT recomend. It is a drug called Lupron. They may tell you that you have to take it before surgery to reduce the size of your fibroid. This is a lie!!!! They may tell you that it will get rid of your fibroid. Again, this is a lie! Lupron, is a Chemotherapy drug designed for med with Advance prostate cancer. It is also used as Chemical Castration for Male Sex offenders. It is NOT ment for women. But doctors do it anyway. They may even try to tell you it is the ONLY way you will be able to get pregnat. Ask them to prove it! They will NOT be able too! There is NO evidence to support this! Actually all medical research supports that your BEST chances of conception will be the 3-6 months after the removal of your fibroid, with NO medication. I do not know how big your fibroid is but do keep n mind that women can delivery 10 lb babies thourhg their vagina's, we ALL dialate to 10 cm. There is NO reason why it can't be removed. If your doctor tells you that they can't do it...that means that s/he does not have the skill needed to do it and you really need to find another doctor. There are MANY doctors out ther will the skill who can!! There are doctors who have dedicated their practice to JUST endo, Fibroids and Pelvic pain!!! Feel free to email if you want to talk!! Good Luck!
