I have had a similar problem since my early teens & have had numerous tests. Luckily I do not pass out when the attacks occur. I too was told i do not have Menieres Disease. However, after many years & visits to so-called specialists, & spells in hospital, I was told there was something wrong with the nerve between the inner ear & the brain. Doesn't help much as it appears that an operation is far too delicate to be performed unless the attacks were more frequent, ie. on a daily basis. Thankfully, they are not, & I have found that over the last 45 years the attacks have occured less frequently (the last attack was 13 mths ago. I sometimes wonder if the problem stemmed from having my ears syringed periodically as a young child. Syringing with cool water brings on an attack quicker than anything else. I guess it is the suddeness of the attack without warning which is most disconcerting. Also I feel very ill for about 24 hrs after an attack. Has anyone else had similar attacks?
