I have the same problem. I am 49 years old and have had the problem come back over and over again after taking the so-called metrogel "cure." Just a few weeks ago I saw a new Gyne. I told him that every time I use the metrogel, within a few weeks or months the vaginosis returns. He said he had just attended a symposium regarding bacterial vaginosis (bv) and he learned that doctors were not prescribing the metrogel for a long enough time. He said it should be taken for two weeks (14 days) instead of five days. However, since my boyfriend could not stand the thought of not having sex for two weeks, I opted instead for the oral medication (Metronidazole). He gave me a prescription for 500mg to be taken twice a day for 7 days. It has been about two weeks since I finished taking the medication and I am starting to get a bit of yellowish discharge but so far no odor. I am worried that the problem is starting to return. If it does come back, I intend to go right back to the doctor about it. Thanks for starting this discussion. Please feel free to email me about your situation.
