hip bursitis

I, too, had chronic bursitis in my left hip. I was going to a chiropractor and having ultrasound and electro-therapy. Those treatments helped but it never got completely well. It had gotten to the point where I had severe muscle cramps in addition to the bursitis pain. Then it was discovered that my left leg was shorter than my right leg. The doctor gave me a 3/8" lift for my left shoe. My bursitis was better within 15 minutes. One word of caution, though, depending on your age, you have to be careful about making a radical change in your posture. I am 50 years old, and the change in my posture caused some back muscle spasms, etc. I have had to have physical therapy for that and also had to take muscle relaxers until my body can make the adjustment. Looking back, I should have maybe put in a 1/8" lift and gradually worked up to the 3/8" lift. But my bursitis is gone! The fact that my left leg was shorter was continually stressing that left hip. FYI - I learned that about 40% of the population has one leg shorter than the other one.
