It seems to me that once you have had any kind of disc damage that it is going to become arthritic. I have been all through this with quite a few herniated disc. I now have one in my neck. Surgery has improved greatly and many people that I have spoken with that had the surgery claim: that they are much better than before...........I can tell you that 20 years ago, this was not the case.
