Bursitis in hip

Burton

Message 8 of 11 Previous Next

I get constant aching in the hips also if I don't exercise. The type of exercise that really, REALLY helps me to manage the pain is light weights at the gym. The increased muscular support that the exercise gives me helps to support the articulation. Anyway, that's my theory. If I don't keep going to the gym regularly, then my hip pain keeps me awake, tossing & turning all night, then the next day I'm tired and cranky and from then on, its a rapid, downhill spiral full of constant, dull, aching pain. The workouts are my lifesaver. After just two weeks at the gym (doing hip abductions, adductions, leg curls, etc. -- the trainer there can get you a routine going), you should start to feel some real relief. I don't know how old you are, but I am 50, so it was not easy getting started. The result is that I am in better shape now than ever before in my life. I'm even back to running which is something I could not do when the hips were inflamed. Of course you have to check with your doctor. Good luck.
