Burning Feet?

Barbara

Message 9 of 16 Previous Next

You sound like me. I thought I was burning my feet at the tanning salon-except after I stopped going they continued to burn. I have an auto-immune disease that affects the arteries in my lower legs. It was the disease which was causing me to have nerve damage in my feet. Have you been tested for diabetes? That is a very common cause of neuropathy in the feet. Sometimes that is the first sign that you may have it. Another cause is auto-immune disease. Your first course of action would be to go to a neurologist and have a nerve conductivity test. See your primary doctor and explain the situation and ask for the test. If they determine that indeed, you do have some type of nerve damage in your feet, then from there you would be tested to determine the cause. In the meantime, ask your doctor for a low dose of Elavil (anti-depressant). This is not because you are "depressed", but the side effect of tricylic anti-depressants is that they help with nerve damage. It takes a while for you to feel the results (a couple of weeks), so don't assume it isn't working. Hope you find relief!
