I am a physical therapist with Addisons Disease. I acquired it by the doctors giving me high doses of prednisone for a prolonged period of time. It is a very rare condition. Unfortunately, the treatment is to be put back on prednisone and wean slowly. I have been weaning for the past 5 years. I have had idiopathic (no known cause for) 2 herniated discs and at least 6 fib fractures. This was all due to the prednisone. I far as I can remember, I don't think I treated any polymylgia patients with tears in the knees from that disease. Prednisone can do nasty things to you that most people don't know about. I read "Coping with Prednisone" by Zuckerman. It was such a relief to know the side effects I was having were not in my mind but from the prednisone. Good luck.
