RSD and Carpal Tunnel surgery

About 2 1/2 yrs. ago I had a bad fall and broke my arm and wrist - they also did carpal tunnel surgery on the hand when putting a plate/pins on the arm. I then developed RSD and went through months of blocks and therapy. A surgeon at a nearby medical school finally did a Kopange Suave procedure (cut a section of the ulna bone out) to enable me to have wrist movement again. The RSD has never gone away completely, but is at a tolerable level and I finally have 70% of the use of my arm and wrist back.... Now I am having severe pain in the other hand (probably from doing the work of both hands for 2 yrs.!) and need carpal tunnel surgery on that one. Has anyone who already had RSD ever had carpal tunnel surgery done? I've read a great deal on how the surgery can trigger RSD but cannot find anything about how it effects RSD already in place.... I'm not afraid of the surgery, but am panic stricken over the thought of it making the RSD worse and going through that again! Any information on this and how the worsening of RSD can be prevented would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
