I have and my daughter had it. My then doctor said its the inflammation of the chest cavity. Yes it strikes suddenly. and very painful and you feel like you are having a heartattack. I never heard in the age of your son having it. But hey you live and learn. Medication he gave us was aspirin. And I also rub the area of pain with vicks cream. Which makes the pain almost going away. But since this could be due to a virus I would check with your doc. If its okay to take aspirin at that age. May be then just tylenol and vicks will do the trick. Explain your son that with rest and with this treatment it will go away.
