Char
I have had stereotactic biopsy twice now. You are right the fear is worse than it really is. I laid on a table on my stomach, with the breast hanging in a cut out hole. I was given a local to numb the area. It is important for you to lay still, so that they can follow the path needed to reach the tumor. They make a small incision about 1/4 inch and insert a hollow needle to suction out small plugs of tissue. I felt pressure in the area, but no pain. The most I felt was discomfort from the pressure. When it was over they put a couple of tape strips over the incision, which looked more like a hole and I was given an ice pack to put on it for 20 minutes. I was a little tender and achey afterwards, but it wasn't bad. The scars is very, very light, and I have to really look for them to find them. You are welcome to write me later if you want or need to. My prayers and thoughts are with you. Relax, things will be ok.
