I was on Lipitor for 3 yrs. and started to have aching in my hips, which I thought I was just getting older. After about 6 months all of a sudden I could not kick my legs in the swimming pool and could not raise my arm over my head. I ended up in the hospital, my ck count went up to 2554, which they have to check while on lipitor. This count effects your heart muscle. My was always o.k. normal is around 40. They took me off lipitor and it returned to normal, but the strength in my legs is still very weak after 2yrs of being off the this drug. I have pain in the hips and running down my legs all the time, hard time sleeping due to pain and discomfort. I don't know what is the matter with my legs, have been to three different drs. and none have said what I have, one did say that the drug lipitor was a direct result of what has happened to me. Know one has told me if my strength will ever go back to normal. I would urge anyone on the drug to be very carful and watch for any aching that you might have and to report it immediately to your dr., don't wait and think it is from your age. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I had to quit my job of 25yrs, was a crossing guard and sell our Saturn, sat too low, could not get up without some assistance. I am unable to enjoy life the way I used too, was a biker, skier, played tennis and bowled, hiked, etc. Now I learned to play bridge, so I can sit and gain weight, lots of it. Oh I forgot to mention that my legs get very cold too. I can never taken anything for my cholestroel which was 315, again that has statens in, that was an adverse reaction I had to that drug, said I was one of the unlucky ones. Sorry I ever took it. Gail
