No doctor should be allowed to tell a patient to just live with it. It is cruel and poor medical practice. Tell her to find another doctor. If she cannot get even pain medications for night time, she should keep going to new doctors until one would prescribe. Patients don't realize it, but a lot of hospitals have new policies dealing with pain and treatment.
