Shar; You were so correct in telling Barbara that if the disease requires the Prednisone, then take it. This is why we have the "wonder drugs" available to us. I went nearly a year without proper medication and I will never forget that period in my life. PMR is nothing to take lightly. It is life altering and if the meds help make it more comfortable then that is what we have to do. The Prednisone side effects have put quite alot of weight on me and I retain fluid like crazy. That is about the extent of it after being on it for nearly 5 years. My Dr. won't let me lower it right now because of the major flareup, but when I do lower it he only wants me to go 1/2mg per day and at 3-4 week intervals. Some try to go down too fast and the body cannot tolerate that. You take care and feel good. Donna
