Hi. I beleive what your husband has is Restless Leg Syndrome. I too have kidney failure and my RLS was brought on after 5 years of being on the dialysis machine. My legs ached so much it is painful and hard to sit still for long periods of time. I couldn't take a long car drive because I would go nuts. First, of all if his nephrologist is unable to help him then he needs to see a nuerologist. They are more familiar with this type of problem. There are many drugs out there that can give your husband some relief. The problem is finding the right one. I was on klonopin and sinemet cr. This combo worked for me where as the drug individually did not. From reading Healthlink former messages I came across many different types of drugs that people have taken for this problem. There is also websites on the internet that may help you learn more about RLS. Please get your husband in to see the nuerologist soon so that your husband can find some relief. I know he must be having a difficult time especially those nights with no sleep or very little sleep adding up. If you have any more questions you can e-mail me directly at wrte2ami@aol.com. I will be glad to offer you what I learned over the years with my own experience. I was lucky enough to get a kidney transplant 6 months ago and the RLS has gone. Maybe once every few months my legs will have a small episode, but nothing like what it was before. Good luck
