My 76 yr. old mother has had a colostomy for about 1 1/2 years, she fell and hurt her back and has been on vicodin for two months. Vicodin has caused her to be constipated, she has taken colace on occasion but not regularly enough. She has become very constipated and doesn't know what to do, I think she should take a stool softener laxitive that would be stronger than the colace but she refuses. Any ideas on what I can tell her? She is even thinking there is something even more wrong, but I think if she would just have a movement it would be ok. thanks
