Hi Jill, You should see a urologist to check you for interstitial cystitis. This disease has almost identical signs of a bladder infection but without infection. If you then find out this is not it then I would get checked for endometeriosos. I have Interstitial Cystitis and like you I had UTI's as a kid a lot. This did not show up until I was 22 and I went to bed feeling fine and woke up the next day with what I thought was a UTI. I stayed on antibotiocs for a year and suffered endlessly. I finally went to Urologist and this is what I was diagnosed with. Don't wait as long as I did as there is help for this problem. You just have to keep pushing until you find the right doctor but you need to see a Urologist as they specialize in this disease. Family Doctors don't know that much about it. I hope this helps.
