Hi, Yes, mersa is a very bad contagious infection. My husband had it and was put into isolation. You get it by coming in contact with the persons feces so if you are doing anything for your grandmother make sure you wear gloves when handling any personal clothing or soiled bedding and such. Your symptoms would be stomach pain, and mostly diarreah with a very strong smell to it. I don't think it would hurt your baby unless you come down with it. Your grandmother could also have a reacurance of it if she gets a bad sore or another milder infection. Hopes this helps, Sandy
