If the hands and feet turn white when turning numb (they have the appearance of all the blood being blocked from them) it's possible he has Reynauds SYNDROME. This is a problem with messages getting from the nerves to the circulatory system. The two major causes are cold and stress. My daughter gets this in her hands. Her doctor told her to "windmill" her arms when he hands turn white to get the blood back in. This works! Don't know what you would do for feet....
