Hi, I am 46 now and developed severe asthma after an upper resp. infection.I am set off by the same things as you. New carpet, carpet - wallpaper glue, any cleaning products and esp. perfume or cologne. My allergist believes in prevention of crisis. I take a ton of asthma drugs - allegra, theophyline, duratuss g, nebulizer with xopenex, advair (new) inhaler and intol inhaler. I have also deveoped seconary addisons disease from the high doses of prednisone I needed at the onset of the asthma. I was having multiple attacks however finally with all the meds my lungs are less inflammed and thus less reactive to those chemical. I had to take a leave of absence from work when they decided to remodel. My sister-in-law develped asthma for no apparent reason and found out that it was mold in her house. They had a new house built with forced hot air heating and is just about asthma free. Good luck.
