Hi Rose. I was diagnosed with PMR last nov. and started steroid treatment in Dec. Within 24 hours my pain was gone. Within three weeks my face had rounded and within the next few weeks I was swollen with fulid and still am. I have gained 45 pounds since Dec 4th of last year.(I normally weigh 117) I have had three reductions in the steroid and with each reduction I increase the amount of Vioxx. Currently I am on 2mg prednisone and 37 1/2 mg of Vioxx. The steroids do take care of most of the pain, but they are not without side effects. I wish you well. Joyce
