Have had Emphysema for a long time, and what you need is a good Pulmonary Doctor I am a 66 year old female, and with using puffers everyday, and a neublizer, you can go along pretty much as always. Just a little slower, because you have to rest some once in a while. A good Pulmonary can take care of Asthma right along with the Emphysema, so your father would not be a worry to you.
