Hello, Sorry to here about your mothers DVT. To answer your question since they state that the DVT was caused by multiple IV's to the arms she should only be on Coumadin for about 6 months. I had DVT which led to pulmonary Emobolism caused by knee surgery and am on coumadin for 6 months. Olso as a precautionary measure I will have my blood tested after im off coumadin to see if im at predispositon for getting blood clots. Gods speed
