Hi, Have your doctor check for primary biliary cirrhosis. Itching is one of the major symptoms. This disease is found primarily in women between the ages of 40-60. I have it and I scratch until I bleed as well. I was prescribed Cholestyramine.. It helps a lot, you just can't take it close to any other medications because it acts like a resin and draws things out of your body. I wish you the best.
