Definitely have your mammogram - I have had experience with very tender and painful breasts. Caffeine and certain times of the month make it worse. My doctor (ob gyn) recommended vitamin E and stay away from caffeine(chocolate too). I take 400 to 800 units a day - and it makes a major difference. Good luck with your mammogram and try the vitamin E (ask your doctor how much you should take)
