I too have an ovarian cyst. I started getting really chronic pains in the left hand side of my abdomen. To start with I ignored this but eventually went to see my doctor. She examined me and said she could find nothing but would send me for an pelvic ultrasound scan just to check for any cysts and also to put my mind at rest. I did go for the scan but the radiologist could find nothing on the left hand side but instead found a large cysts on my right ovary which was 7.2 cm. I have since been to see a consultant and I am due to have a laparoscopy in about 6 weeks to remove the cyst. The reason why doctors tend to watch cysts is because normally after a couple of periods smaller cysts will disappear by themselves however a cyst of 7.2 cm is very unlikely to disappear and surgery is recommended.
