I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts at 15, when I told my doctor of irregular cycles and severe cramps. I too had the therapy with birth control pills, and it did work for a time, but I think understanding how they form is very important. All of us females develop these cysts every cycle. This is how the eggs leave the ovaries. Normally the egg is released, and the "cyst" is shed. The pill works by supressing ovulation, it is a band-aid. Have your hormone levels checked, and don't be surprised if you go for an ultrasound and there is another one on your other side. And DO NOT believe them if your doctor tells you that ovarian cysts prevent you from getting pregnant. I've had 3 children, cysts, fibroids and all: 2 of them I was on the pill. ask your doctor for Anaprox. it is an NSAID. which worked wonders for the pain i had. Good luck. J
