Hi - I have Porphyria (a liver disease)and have had flu-like symptoms a lot! Plus a lot of abdominal pain. I got tested through the Mayo Clinic in 1995 and tested positive for Porphyria Cutanea Tarda. I was 'latent' until I moved into a brand-new office building. Then the chemical exposures from formaldehyde in new carpets, paints, etc. put me into an active state. Specimens for for the Porphryia testing can be taken by a lab locally and shipped to Mayo for evaluation. Protocol is for 24-hour urine, 24-hour stool and blood tests. Let me know if I can be of help!
