Hi, I also have a daughter who just turned five and also has a lot of constiaption and has since she was a baby. I see a gatro-intestinal doctor for myself and happened to mention to him about my daughter and he told me to ask my pediatrician about a condition called Hirschsprungs's and it is where a nerve doesn't connect when they are babies and the symptioms don't show up until much later when they are pre-school age. They have very long stools as one of the symptoms so you might inquire about this and ask to see a pediatric gastro-intesinal doctor. Hope this helps.
