First, I thought a bypass also is a surgical process. Perhaps they compared it to an angioplasty - trying to move the clot with a shunt? Makes it difficult for me to suggest how a bypass could do the same as surgery - with different risks. I have have brain surgery, myself. I'd been under a dr's care 23 years trying different medications and combinations of the same for seizures that I'd had since childhood. I started investigating surgery as an option in 1992. The operation was done in New York-Presbyterian in September 1993. I've been seizure-free since that time. If you have any additional questions on that process, I'd be happy to share with you. Good luck to you & your family!
