Christie- I had giardia about 16 years ago. Never went out of the country. Didn't show up in fecal specimen. Had to do a string test. Thye make you swallow a string with something like flypaper on it. I lost alot of weight quickly and did have diahrea etc. They gie you a medicine with antibuse in it and it goes away. however, it can always remain in your system, I was told and flare up under stress.
