I am an experienced Speech and Language Pathologist and have treated many patients with apraxia over the years. It can be developmental in children or acquired. The diagnostic tests are important but you need to get your child started in out-patient speech or home health because the school districts are usually unable to offer more than a half hour a week or less. Your child should undergo a complete speech evaluation though.
