I'm sorry, but I do not think fibromyalgia patients should be told the "hot spots" are all due to thyroid! I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 3 years ago and know MANY people with it, and like me, thier thyroid is FINE! I'm an RN with an excellent record, grad. top in my class and am (was, before fibro disabled me) an educator of other health care providers. The cause of fibro (and the "hot spots" ) is UNKNOWN. There are many theories and the syndrom varies from patient to patient, therefore, the treatments which are helpful (nothing takes it away or cures it!) are varied. Thyroid does sometimes enter into the picture and when it does meds for that are appropraite. HOWEVER, make NO mistake, not all fibromyalgia patient have thyroid problems and certainly not all will benefit from thyroid meds! When one is dealing with a syndrom of unknown origin, which fibromyalgia is (!!!) one CAN NOT put such "blanket" responses out there to confuse those who need to learn about fibromyalgia. To do so is irresponsible! Alex
