I can only relate to you about a "Baker's Cyst" that I had. It was on my wrist and I went to the doctor to see what it was. I was told that it was a "Bible Cyst". I THINK this is another name for a Baker's Cyst, but am not sure. The doctor told me that my options were to have it taken off surgically, leave it alone and it will go away in time, or do what was done in the olden days, have a friend slam a Bible down on it. I was also told that it would not hurt me and that it was nothing more than a sack of sterile fluid. It went away sometime during the next 4-5 months. I didn't even know it was gone until one day I looked down and it wasn't there. I didn't even know when that happened. I was about 20 at the time I had it but I would doubt seriously if it could do much damage or that your son should not be doing anything that he did before he got this cyst. I think that if it broke during play, it would be like mine, he wouldn't even know it. Mine never did cause me any pain at all. Mine was a little bit smaller, about the size of a large marble. I am not a doctor and this was 30 years ago, so there may be new data that suggests something different and you should definitely check this out with your doctor. I just wanted to possibly make you feel a little less worried about the boy's amount of pain.
