Allison
I have a 13 week old son who has an undiagnosed blood disorder that he has been receiving transfusions for since he was 4 weeks old. When he first got sick it was because his platelet count was extremely low (4,000)and his hemoglogin was 5. His white count, however, was fine. After a battery of tests and biopsys - no answers. Now his white count is also extremely low - it varies between 200 and 500. The team taking care of him is now suggesting that he may have aplastic anemia, but they have never heard of such a young child having it. My question is if anyone else has? They are in the process of getting in touch with other children's hospitals around the country to get additional information - if anyone has any info on this I would appreciate it. Thanks, Allie
