20 years ago our son had asthma and allergies very bad - also he did not say his consonants clearly either - the ENT said he had a lot of fluid in his ears and his adenoids were enlarged - they suggested putting tubes in his ears and removing his adenoids and he was much better after that - his allergies were still presesnt but by the time he was 4 or 5 he cleared completely up - I think his hearing was affected from the fluid that is why he wasn't hearing the words clearly so he wasn't able to repeat them clearly - you are on the right track by going to a ENT - Good Luck
