This is not going to be encouraging, because I lost my father-in-law at the age of 55 to pancreatic cancer. Of course that was 33 years ago and they didn't know then what they know now. His problem was that it had already spread by the time they found it. Hopefully with the right kind of treatment he can be helped. I would get as much information I could about his condition and what stage it is in. I would think your doctor would talk to you in length about this and try to help you find the right help even if it meant going to a larger hospital or somewhere they specialize in this.
