Vertebral Axial Decompression (VAXd)for a herniated disk

Becky

Message 2 of 2 Previous

I am in the process of VAX-D right now. I've had 4 treatments. I have a ruptured disk at L-5 with an abuttment on the root of the S-1 nerve. My pain level was at 8-9 when I started. It's at about 5-6 right now. I will have 20 treatments. So far I'm doing much better than I had hoped. I can walk upright....not bent over.....Still have pain in my buttock...but the severe (charley horse type pain) in my thigh has all but gone....I'm not a doctor, but I didn't want surgery to be my first option, so I decided to try this....The consult made sense to me, and I decided to try it...If you do go, you have to follow the plan to the letter, do not do anything that could set you back.....no lifting, bending...etc......wear your brace, stay away from heat, use your ice pack, take the vitamins, etc.... Good luck if you decide to go...My insurance is paying for it..so it's been well worth it for me and no knife for the time being....
