Blood clots are NOT fun. In 1996, at age 15, I had DVT and pulmonary embolism out of the blue (though I have lupus and had been in total remission till then). Physically I had been very, very active. It was Hell for me as the doctors strippped me of all my sports because I was put on coumadin. They found that I have antiphospholipids, so I'd have to be on the pain killer longterm. Though it may be a once-in-a-blue-moon side effect, I strongly believe that it almost killed me. Just months after going on, bled excessively though blood clotting rate on all tests were fine. Had major platelet drop and had brain hemorrhage. After surgery + long recovery, stopped coumadin and put on Lovenox injections instead. After one year of pretty stable platelets, all docs insisted for me to go back on coumadin which I dreaded. The very week I went back on it, my platelets dove down again and I ended up in the hospital for tratments and prednisone boosts. It happened over and over after that. Now, I will always avoid coumadin. I would also very much like to report that as a rare side effect, as it happened to me many times. If anybody knows the pprocess and how to report ot could you tell me how? Thanks. Wow, I meant this posting to be a reply, not a looong story. Sorry. Hana
