However, if the pain persists one might consider having the pain checked out in the ER with an ultrasound to rule out a number of things, including cancer. If you are sexually active, one should not rule out that these symptoms can be seen with certain sexually transmitted diseases and a tubal pregnancy could present in this manner. A tubal pregnancy can rupture and result in a life-threatening loss of blood.
