MY HUSBAND WAS 43 YRS OLD WHEN HE HAD A HEART ATTACK AND SUFFERED AN ANOXIC INJURY. AFTER READING OTHERS STORIES, I REALIZE I'M NOT ALONE. IT HAS BEEN ONLY 10 MONTHS SINCE HIS HEART ATTACK AND HE HAS MADE REMARKABLE PROGRESS WITH HIS LONG TERM MEMORY AND FAIR PROGRESS WITH HIS SHORT TERM, ALTHOUGH HE STILL HAS GOOD AND BAD DAYS WHERE HIS MEMORY SEEMS TO REALLY AFFECT HIM. HE ALSO NEEDS TO BE PUSHED TO DO DAILY TASKS, SOMETIMES EVEN TO EAT. HE HAS NO INTEREST IN READING OR WATCHING TV, HE SPENDS MOST OF HIS TIME JUST SITTING AND STARING. HE DOESN'T HAVE THE PATIENCE WITH THE KIDS AS HE USE TO, NOR DOES HE STRIKE UP CONVERSATIONS. HE'S NOT COMFORTABLE AROUND OTHERS, BECAUSE HE CAN'T KEEP UP WITH THEIR CONVERSATION. ALTHOUGH THESE TRAITS SEEM REALLY DEPRESSING, WE TRY HARD STAY UPBEAT AROUND THE HOUSE AND NOT LET HIM FEEL THAT HE'S A BURDEN ON US. I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT HE FUNCTIONS SOMEWHAT WELL IF I MAKE A LIST OF THINGS FOR HIM TO DO.
